As from the first of January 2007 Dondini will close doors to the public. This means no accomodation, quading, horseriding or fishing. The reason given forth by owner Craig Vacy-Lyle is based on his wish to stay there when he chooses, which up till present has not always been possible.
He has sold off the chalets to close family, and intends to run the estate as a body corporate.
NEW DATE FOR OFFICE PARTY
Peter Botha unanimously decided that the 8th of December, a day untarnished by any wrong doing, is the worst day to have the office party. Having taken into consideration a report specialy crafted for Mr Botha by three astrological experts, a panel researching the feasability of an eighth week day, one zoological student and two wheel bearing specialists, he was persuaded to move the party to the 9th of December.
A special invitation list has been drafted (or at current statistics provided by the BoKS; 80% thereof), and a mobilisation of forces has been spotted outside Ant's garage. Further developments obviously pend.
COOL THINGS TO DO IN THE KAMBERG #123
Telling the farmer how to farm.
Fantastic activity for maybe not all of the family, but definitly guaruntees a good half hour's worth of entertainment, and a possible education on compensating irregular but predictable changes in soil acidity with fly larvea. At the very worst; a practical taste-testing of different soil types within a ten meter radius.
Hint: To spice things up (like at a time when John Deer models are being dissected with careful and deliberate technical jargon - especially those times) say something like; "Kak man. All farmers do, is sit around and watch stuff grow and be born. Get someone to mow the lawn and stuff, you know." - enjoy!
DONATION STUFFING
Debbie Esposito (lead roler in that old classic "Left wing nights")showed her absolute disgust this week at being confronted by yet another crumpled grissly piece of paper, requesting a donation for an end of year tour.
Expressing her disfavour by slapping down a small sample packet fudge on the bar counter, she explained that she had done a years worth of gardening and maintenance work at Dabulamanzi, and had told Mrs. Buthelezi, the head Mistress, that she did not want anyone asking her for money. With what seems obvious disrespect, children have flocked to Altnabreac for donations.
The editor has, with full respect to Debbie, considered this money-making ploy, and has drafted his own donation request form for an end of 'season' tour in February. Anybody who can spare a couple of their own hard earned bob, can make donations to TGLS (the greedy little swines) at SHCI. Cheques and transfers more than welcome.
JS MENNI MOCKS THE KCT
The editor phoned Mr Menni, captain of the NRSF, this week to gage what is happening in the old rivalry between the Kamberg Stallions and the Nottinghamroad Sparrow Farts. Rumour that a rematch be scheduled for the 3rd of December was confirmed by Mr. Menni (the rumour was confirmed) and also by Rowan van Aardt (conveynor of the KCT selection commitee, captain and world renowned baritone). Mr. Menni concluded the phone conversation by confirming a preliminary 'stand-off' meeting of captains at the SHCI on the 16th of this month, and also muttered something about choosing a better side.
Confirmation of fixture as well as team naming will follow sometime in the unforseen future.
MESHLYNN COTTAGE CLOSED
In the advent of a new manager, and the renovation of the house he's to live in, the cottage will be closed to the public, as will the dam and fishing rights. Mr. Pringle states that the new developments should hopefully be completed by, well when the renovations are finished.
In other related news, Maureen is not doing well, and the prognosis isn't good. So from here in the Kamberg: "We're thinking and hoping the best for you Maureen!!!
