Sheltered Vale Country Estate

Description

Sheltered Vale Country Estate is a 2,500 acre estate located 6 km outside of Rosetta, on the Kamberg Road in the heart of the Natal Midlands Meander.

The estate offers three luxury self-catering cottages, each privately situated in the 12 acre registered "Midlands Open Garden" and with full access to the entire 2,500 acre estate.

As our guest, we offer catch-and-release trout and bass fishing in four dams, trout fishing along the river frontage on the Mooi River, tennis, mountain-biking, and miles and miles of walking and space to enjoy. There is rich birdlife, including long-crested eagles, owls, fish eagles, and kites. You might also see grey duiker, oribi, reed buck, and hear jackal calling at night.

We are proud to mention that in 2008 our estate was chosen as the location for the production of an advertisement for the UK supermarket chain, Waitrose. We have two landscaped picnic spots at two of the dams for all to enjoy where you can go out for a leisurely row in the boats. For the kids, there is plenty of space in the garden to roam about in, and there is a trampoline and a tree house where the kids can even sleep if they wish to.

The main homestead on the estate was designed in 1912 by Knighthood architect, Sir Herbert Baker, famous designer of international landmarks including, but not limited to, the Union Presidential Buildings in Pretoria, South Africa House on Trafalgar Square in London, and the world-renowned Lords Cricket Ground in Waterloo, London.

The main homestead has welcoming rich decoration within, and we have carried over this same style of decoration into each cottage. Our cottages have been designed to be a home-away-from-home, providing comfort and space. Each has a hallway with doors leading off to the living area, bedrooms, and bathroom. The entrances to the cottages are through a forest walkway, leading into the open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, and onto the elevated balcony overlooking the farm valleys and up onto the Drakensberg Mountains.

You will enjoy the peace, but will never feel isolated as we are part of the Kamberg Nature and Tourist belt, whilst Nottingham Road is only 13 km away.
