Horizons Gourmet Picnics, the highly acclaimed picnic experience that visitors to The Midlands Meander are talking about, is the perfect venue for family and friends to get together, celebrations, romantic interludes and lazy afternoons.

It’s a unique concept for KZN, and the emphasis is on providing a luxurious, comfortable and elegant culinary picnic experience for adults, and the children have the novelty of their very own little picnic basket full of nutritional, fun, all time favourites like gingerbread men and bite sized star shaped sandwiches.

Guests can enjoy a picnic on one of a number of view sites at Horizons amongst the lawns, gardens and trees in the 11 acres, with a choice of spectacular outlooks of Giant’s Castle, the hamlet of Rosetta, the Mooi River and the rolling hills of the Midlands or collect a gourmet picnic to take on their meanderings to the many attractions in the Midlands.

Horizons provides everything you need for an Elegant, Stylish picnic lunch with stunning views.  Quality linen napery, fine crockery, cutlery and glasses. Traditional blankets and cushions with low Japanese style tables (keeps the champagne from spilling !), or  café style tables and chairs on our lawns under shady trees.

The Midlands has the perfect weather all year round for relaxing, lazy afternoon picnics.

7 course Gourmet Picnic lunch plus fresh baguette and bread sticks at R120 per person. Children's picnic in their own basket R55.

Horizons provides an unusual and beautiful setting for that special day. We will be happy to discuss your requirements and offer our quotation.

We offer seven courses per adult in our baskets. All home made per booking.Our menu will change to reflect the season, with more robust, hot dishes in the cooler months, and lighter, more refreshing recipes for the hotter months.

We open Weekends and Public holidays or during the week to parties of ten or more people.
