Greenfields Manor House
Greenfields Manor House was built before the Boer War in the rolling foothills of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, by James Piccione, an Irish-Italian who dreamed of establishing a magnificent horse and cattle stud on the estate. Today the echoes of its lavish past are evident in the imposing stableblock, which today houses the Greenfields functions room, the spacious chapel, and the ever-popular décor showcase, The Linen Loft.

The Manor House itself is the original homestead dating back to 1893, with an updated freshness and style that combines colonial finesse with modern convenience and comfort. There are six double bedrooms, five en suite, with one family suite that offers two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. There is also a separate family cottage adjacent to the Manor House, with two bedrooms sharing an en suite bathroom and a log fire for chilly evenings. In the main house there is a lounge, small TV room, a wood-panelled dining room, and a traditional veranda with spectacular views across the valleys and pastures. The Manor House is family-friendly, with cots available for the youngest guests, and a honeymoon suite for just-married couples.
Greenfields Grill
The Greenfields Grill is the showcase for the farm’s award-winning, homegrown beef, which is free of artificial hormones and steroids. But there is far more to the ever-changing, diverse menu than just carnivore-fare! From light meals like tramezzini, burgers and salads to favourites like pastas, fish and chips, calamari, chicken and delectable desserts, the Greenfields Grill is the perfect place for an icy beer, a quick bite, a country tea-time next to the log fire or relaxed Sunday “Carvery in the Country” lunches. Enjoy your experience in the pub-restaurant or on the outside wooden deck. There is also an upstairs lounge with a TV for sports-fans, or to offer younger diners some ‘downtime’ away from their folks.

The Greenfields Grill is open all day from Wednesday to Saturday, and from Thursday to Saturday for dinner. There is a “Carvery in the Country” every Sunday, with homegrown rolled sirloin and prime rib, along with a selection of salads and desserts. The Greenfields Grill is also available for private functions, offering an intimate and cosy venue with a special atmosphere.
Greenfields function room and chapel
With its rose-lined flagstone entrance and stained glass double doors, numerous fireplaces (seven in total), and lofty ceilings with yellowwood beams, the Greenfields function room is a place for creating memories with flair. Located in the magnificent façaded stableblock built by the farm’s founder, James Piccione, in 1893, this venue is one of the largest in the Midlands, capable of seating up to 200 guests comfortably, with space for a dance floor. All functions are fully serviced with specially tailored packages that ensure that there are no hidden extras.

The centralised location make this a convenient venue for guests, for whom there is plenty of nearby ‘over-flow’ accommodation at quality establishments, and also because suppliers like florists, photographers, make-up artists, and the like are close at hand. The Greenfields Manor team is capable and experienced, and able to offer a confirmed network of “the best in the Midlands” to ensure that every event is a dream-come-true. Accommodating the main wedding party/host and hostess/senior management is both comfortable and practical, as the manor house is just metres away from both the function room and the chapel, and has a delightful honeymoon suite.

The roomy chapel, adjacent to the function room in the magnificent original buildings, is a serene and character-filled setting for special occasions, with dark wooden benches, soft candlelight, towering flower arrangements and space for 130 guests. This place of quiet presence and sense of history is ideal for weddings, christenings, renewal of marriage vows and so much more. The manor house gardens and the farm’s sprawling country setting offer numerous scenic backdrops for wedding pictures and other special photoshoots. Whether it is roses, tranquil lakes, distant mountain skylines, grazing horses or simply the rolling Midlands’ hills, Greenfields can offer a myriad of beautiful, atmospheric settings.
