Description

Bramleigh Manor is a secluded, owner-run Country Guesthouse/ B&B near the village of Nottingham Road in the Natal Midlands (Kwazulu Natal).

It is on a 200 hectare eco-estate and is surrounded by the outskirts of the Drakensberg Mountains at an altitude of 1500m.

We are about a 4,5 hours drive from Johannesburg and about 1,5 hours drive from Durban,
only 20 min from the N3 offramp to Nottingham Road.

We are very much off the beaten track, with a very quiet, peaceful and tranquil environment amidst authentic indigenous forest and natural surroundings.
It is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle, with birds, Samango monkeys, bushbuck and Nguni cattle providing the background sound.

The thatched manor house has two private, luxury suites with own entrances, kitchenettes, lounge area and patios overlooking the extensive, wonderful garden and the indigenous forest.

There are also three thatched en-suite rondavel-style rooms away from the main house with spectacular views.

All rooms have a fridge, tea/coffee facility, fireplaces and are fully serviced.

A hearty country breakfast is served daily, as well as exclusive, three-course dinners on request.
Romantic breakfasts served in the forest on request.

Family Suite

The Family suite is on the west wing of the ground floor of the Manor house. floor of the Manor house.

The enormous open plan lounge/bedroom with fireplace invites you to spend cozy evenings with friends or family by the fire. Or watch the flames from bed. Plentiful wood provided.

The large dorm-style bedroom inter lead to the shared bathroom of the main bedroom and sleeps up to four.

The small kitchen makes self-catering an option.

Cottage Suite

The Cottage Suite consists of an entrance hall, bedroom, lounge with fireplace, kitchen and full bathroom.

The private entrance and patio open onto the garden.

Rustic and cozy thatched roof lounge, with the fireplace for winter nights. Ample firewood is provided.

Very comfortable thatched roof bedroom to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Bathroom en-suite with bath and shower.

The small Kitchen for self-catering or just snacks/tea in between.

The secluded patio has a stunning view onto the forest and garden. Birding is excellent from your verandah!

Iwule & Umziki

Named after the Oribi, an endangered antelope species, which is regularly seen on our estate. (Zulu: Iwule).

Like Umziki next door, it has a breathtaking view if the forest and hills beyond.

Our fruit orchard and organic vegetable garden with netting are seen here too.

Rustic decor with "Queen Anne" stove for cozy winter evenings.

Comfortable luxury bathroom with two basins, shower and cast iron ball & claw bathtub. Space heater and heated towel rail provided.

There is a stunning view from the patio onto the forest and hills.

Insimango

Insimango is a freestanding thatch rondavel, with the carport a few steps away. This is a cozy room for two with and en-suite bathroom (shower only).

Named after the Samango monkey, of which several troops reside in our forest. (Zulu: insimango).

Bramleigh Manor is about relaxation and the enjoyment of being in this peaceful atmosphere surrounded by the most beautiful country side and the outskirts of the Drakensberg mountains.

Off the beaten track and nicely tucked away, this is the perfect get away to recharge your batteries. Enjoy the birdlife, the walks through the forest or the grasslands up the hills. Apart from the indigenous wild flowers you might also be able to spot migrating buck,i.e. reedbuck, duiker, and oribi.

This is a birders' and nature lovers' paradise and retreat.

Bring a good book, enjoy your own fireplace in the evenings, get cozy after having been served a delicious home cooked meal by the hostess of Bramleigh Manor.

Sani Pass

This is a good daytrip from Bramleigh Manor but you need a 4x4 to be able to get up Sani Pass. Just the 70 km from Bramleigh to Himeville/ Underberg prove to be a very scenic drive mainly dirt road though.

Remember to bring your passports as you will be crossing into Lesotho.

There is always the option of booking a tour which will take tourists up Sani Pass in their Land Rovers. Quad bikes/ off-road bikes can also be booked in Himeville to take you up Sani Pass.

Loteni game reserve, Kamberg game reserve

Bushman's paintings can be found in the Kamberg game reserve and both reserves are a lovely outing for the day.

Directions

From the N3 highway, take the Nottingham Road off ramp. Turn right at the top towards Nottingham Road. Pass The Junction on your left and turn right under the railway bridge. Drive through the village. Turn left at the Police Station towards Sani Pass, Himeville. Drive on this tar road for 17km. Turn left on the D544 (dirt road). Bramleigh Manor ist situated 4km further on the left.
